Connecting with and Honoring Seniors in Eastern Ukraine

Updated: Sep 8, 2021

Our partner Pastors care deeply about the seniors in their surrounding communities. They are already doing the work of the Kingdom, sacrificially giving their time to visit each person at their home. They bravely and persistently share the good news of the love of God. They bring whatever practical help they can find, even if it’s from their own resources. Prayer and sharing the Gospel is a critical aspect of each of these visits.

Earlier this spring, Pastor Sergei, with the help of resources supplied by MPI, visited some seniors in poverty in Eastern Ukraine. Here is a conversation and prayer that we’ve transcribed from a video Pastor Sergei shared with us from one of those visits:

Here is a New Testament for you Ivan. It is the Word of God. Read it every day. Let me pray for you. God is your loving Father. Do you believe in God? I want to tell you that God loves you. I am a Pastor and I came here to pray for you. We all make mistakes in life. We need to repent and ask God to forgive us, and then live for Him. To die without forgiveness of sins is an eternal tragedy. I’m going to pray for you. ‘Heavenly Father, God Almighty, I praise your holy name. We trust in you. Your Name is above any other name. You gave your son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and transgressions. He took all our sickness and pain upon Himself. I pray for Ivan. Bless him and those who live in this house. They are Your children. Today he is without strength. He is bound by sickness. He can’t move nor walk. I pray for Your help, strength, and healing for Ivan. Bless him in the name of Jesus. Amen.’” Pastor Sergei
