It was in Kremenets, Ukraine, that we were introduced to Olga, Oleg, and their daughters, Sasha and Masha. Their hometown in the Mykolaiv region had come under fire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, forcing them to flee with nothing but what they could carry. Now living in a cramped, unheated dormitory, the family faced the harsh reality of displacement with little more than hope.

Thanks to the compassion of MPI donors, we were able to step in with urgent support, providing food packages, a powerful heater to help them survive the bitter Ukrainian winter, and access to counselling and a Christian community.

Our first interaction with Olga, Sasha, and Masha was at a children’s event sponsored by MPI. For two precious hours, the girls laughed, danced, created crafts, and simply got to be kids again. Before leaving, they received a special gift—small, but meaningful moments of joy in a world turned upside down.

Later that day, the family visited our “Social Hub” to pick up food supplies. As they were leaving, Olga quietly asked if she could attend our church service the next morning. Of course, we said yes.

That simple request sparked something extraordinary. Since that day, their bond with our local partners in Kremenets has deepened. The family now has consistent food, warmth, and—most importantly—a spiritual home. Oleg, Olga, and the girls are no longer just recipients of care; they’ve begun serving others in crisis, walking hand in hand with the very team that once helped them.
